When reflecting on what we have learned in regards to the ‘professional qualities’ that we believe a ‘good teacher’ should possess, our perception and knowledge has broadened! Throughout our experience in the Bed program we have discovered that our commitment to teaching will be directly related to our belief in teacher efficacy and how well we (as future teachers) will use instructional strategies, are able to promote student engagement and develop classroom management skills.
Commitment to teaching is a skill and desire that we feel begins as a passion. In order to maintain this ‘drive’ we have learnt that it is crucial to continue to develop and use the following skills effectively; instructional strategies, engagement and classroom management. With this in mind, we are hopeful that with experience, we will grow into the teachers who have inspired and encouraged us to be where we are today so that we too can instill positive attributes in students we teach!
